Hand Tool Woodwork: Cooking Spoon
Take a seat on a Spoon Maker's horse and create your own heirloom wooden cooking spoon
Workshop Description
There is nothing more fulfilling and meaningful than to make useful things by hand, especially from wood, the most amazing and versatile renewable resource. • Learn with a qualified designer and experienced manual arts educator to confidently begin your hand tool woodworking journey or add to your existing skill set. • Along the way you will learn all about the timber species being used on the day, and get to use vintage tools and learn about their history and development. • To make your spoon we will start with a spoon blank, and you will find out all about wood grain, structure and how to work it with traditional edge tools. • You will learn the skills to use a spoon maker’s drawknife, wood-body spokeshave, round and flat soled iron spokeshaves, a gouge and a gooseneck scraper. • To finish your spoon, you will learn how to use abrasive paper effectively (if you wish to use it), and how to apply an all-natural hand made woodware finish to seal and protect the wood. Come and make some wood shavings and be happy! Ages 14+ Email: kvalleywoodworks@outlook.com https://www.kyeambavalleywoodworks.com.au/
